SUMMARY:Climate Day of Action
DESCRIPTION:XR North and friends are hosting a day of action focused on the
inextricable link between climate breakdown and the arms industry.\n\nJoi
n for talks and educational chats around themes such as 'War is Ecocide' a
nd 'Conservation Colonialism'\, and use your voice and body to resist DSEI
 .\n\n*********************************************************************
************\nWhy are we resisting DSEI?\nWar is Ecocide.\nNothing is more
devastating and destructive to human beings than war… OR in fact\, to t
he rest of the living world.\nFrom immediate pollution of water\, land\, a
nd air\, to the use of armed assault on indigenous communities to further
pillage the ecosystems that they protect\, to the fact that the U.S. milit
ary is the single largest institutional emitter of carbon on Earth\, there
is no ‘greening’ militarism\, there is no ‘eco'-war.\nTo deal with
a future rocked by escalating ecological crises\, it is going to take utte
rly unprecedented levels international cooperation and collaboration. Arme
d conflict between and within nation-states is the absolute polar opposite
of this\; one future cannot exist with the other.\nIf we fail to change c
ourse\, we know what a future of militarism and ecological collapse will l
ook like - authoritarian governments using weapons to brutally suppress th
eir own populations\, states using open aggression to enable more overt re
source grabs as essential resources become more scarce\, increasingly dead
ly militarised borders enforced to meet the millions of desperate people d
riven from their homes by disasters…\nAnd profiting from all of this\, w
ill be the arms trade…\nDSEI (the Defence and Security Equipment Interna
tional) is one the worlds biggest arms fairs\, where the biggest dealers o
f death meet and greet the worst perpetrates of violence and repression. F
rom Saudi Arabia’s genocidal assault on Yemen\, to the Turkish state’s
attacks on the Kurds\, to Israel’s ongoing colonisation of Palestine\,
DSEI is where the mass-murderers come to browse and compare the best ways
to kill.\nAnd all of this is actively facilitated by the British governmen
 t. Britain plays a unique role in the global arms trade\, and so we in Bri
tain have a particular responsibility to act in solidarity with those suff
ering from the effects of this grotesque industry\, to resist\, disrupt an
d defeat it here.\nIf enough if us come\, together\, we CAN StopTheArmFair
\nCome to protest against the whole set-up of DSEI from 6th September\, or
come along on the 10th for a day of talks about the meaning of war as eco
 cide\, climate justice\, and international solidarity.\n\n\n**************
 *******************************************************************\n\n\nI
nformation about transport to the site and accessibility.  If you need to
know information that is not currently on this page\, or to let us know a
bout an access need\, get in touch at resistDSEI@protonmail.com.\n\nWe urg
e those coming to any action to be COVID-safe\, to protect our community a
nd make this protest accessible to all.  Please take a test before coming
\, bring sanitiser and respect those who want to social distance.  Bring
your own water bottle and mugs to get drinks on site!\n\nInformation about
your legal rights on protests.  Take the time to learn your rights befor
e attending the week of action\, for your own protection and the protectio
n of those around you.\n\n***IMPORTANT***\n\nIt is crucial that everyone j
oining this wonderful week of resistance adheres to the Stop the Arms Fair
Safer Spaces Policy.  Please also take a look at Campaign Against Arms T
rade’s Action Guidelines on interactions with the police – who protect
the arms trade\, are part of the arms trade\, and are institutionally rac
ist – and on directing our protest at the arms industry (and so being mi
ndful of the local community!).\n\nGreen and Black Cross will be coordinat
ing legal observers throughout the week of action.\n\n\n
