SUMMARY:Conference at the Gates: Academics Against the Arms Fair
DESCRIPTION:Building on the successes of Conference at the Gates 2015\, on 
 Friday 8th September there will be an open air conference-action at the ga
 tes of the ExCel centre. The aim is to build networks of solidarity in opp
 osition to the arms trade\, to explore forms of academic practice that don
 ’t stop at the university walls\, and to directly disrupt the setup of t
 he arms fair.\n\nBlurring lines between theory and practice\, artists\, st
 udents\, activists and academics from a range of backgrounds have been wor
 king together to create this exciting event to explore issues and ideas on
  militarism. The day will be filled with interactive workshops\, performan
 ces\, and creative activities exploring themes from the gendered politics 
 of conflict and militarism to the militarisation of education\, to militar
 ism and popular culture.\n\nConference at the Gates is free and open to al
 l over 12 years - come along and learn from each other in a friendly and w
