Flashmob to Stop the Arms Fair!

A group of Stop the Arms Fair activists are planning a creative action, and they need your help! Please read their call out below, and email flashmob(a)stopthearmsfair.org.uk to RSVP!

What to expect:

The action is a die-in/performance with a soundscape. The action itself will probably last 20 minutes, and is a creative public action. The risk of arrest is likely to be very low. We will meet on the morning for a briefing and rehearsal, and to apply face paint to look like you’re a casualty of war.

Please note: the soundscape will be sounds of war, so please consider whether this will be triggering or distressing for you.

Meeting point and time will be announced next week. Please book 2-3 hours off on the morning for this (most of the time will be getting ready, rehearsal and tea drinking).

What you need to bring:

• Clothing: In case the weather is wet, wear appropriate clothing. We have two character styles that you can choose to come as. One is a civilian, so any clothes you don’t mind getting paint on / a bit of the garment ripped. You can also come as a military person dressed in camo/army style. If you have black, white, red face paint please bring some along! In your RSVP email please mention how you’ll be dressed, so we can get an idea of how it will look.
• Minirig: We will have a soundscape to go with our performance. For this we need as many Minirigs as possible (the wifi ones). Ask some friends who might have this. (For anyone who isn’t familiar with this it’s a little sound system that can be linked up to play the same tune at the same time in multiple places via wifi). In your reply let me know if you have one/can source one for the day. If you have any other portable sound amplification system let me know in case we can’t get enough minirigs.
