Arms Fair Walk

11am – Assemble at Stratford Station for walk to ExCel

We will assemble outside the eastern exit from Stratford Station, and the walk will leave at 11am. It will be led by former Veterans for Peace (VFP) UK members, who will carry wreaths in memory of all victims of the arms trade. Mad Hatters will be dressed in town crier costume. The walk will go through Plaistow and down Prince Regent Lane. On the way the walkers will hand out leaflets through Newham at shops, cafés and to passers-by, encouraging local people to join the protests at the Defence and Security International arms fair (DSEI) held at the ExCeL Centre at the Royal Victoria Dock. On arrival at ExCeL Centre we will go to the side of the dock opposite ExCeL to hold a ceremony during which former VFP members will cast the wreaths into the dock remembering particularly the victims of recent wars who have been killed by weapons supplied by the arms trade for which such arms fairs form the shop window.
