The AOC Europe 2021 arms fair is scheduled to take place at the council-owned ACC Exhibition Centre in Liverpool.  At the fair, arms companies – whose weapons have been used to target civilian populations around the world – are due to set up shop to market and sell the military technologies and tools of information operations and electronic warfare.

The arms fair is organised by Clarion Events, the same events company that organises DSEI!

The CEO of Liverpool City Council, Tony Reeves, has said that the cancellation of the arms fair would be a “reputation and commercial risk”.  Liverpool Against the Arms Fair – a local coalition of campaigners opposing the fair – has called a national demonstration on 11th September to demand that the fair does not go ahead, and make it abundantly clear that the reputational risk is if it does.

Join Jeremy Corbyn, John McDonnell, Lowkey, Maxine Peake, Lyndsey German and speakers from Liverpool’s Palestinian, Syrian and Yemeni communities to build pressure on the directors of ACC Liverpool to cancel the event.

There are two assembly points, one at 11:30am at the Princes Avenue entrance to Princes Park, and the other at 12:30pm at Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral.  The march will leave Princes Park to march into Liverpool city centre and arrive at the Metropolitan Cathedral (also known as the Catholic Cathedral).  The united demonstration will then make its way to ACC Liverpool, the venue where the arms fair is due to be held in October.
