Family friendly walk lead by members of former Veterans for Peace UK, Mad Hatters will be in town crier costume to walk through Newham. Walkers will be handing out fliers to shops, cafes and passersby, encouraging people to protest at DSEI.  We will also stop at various points for town criers to deliver their message.

Led by former Veterans for Peace (VFP) UK members who will carry wreaths in memory of all victims of the arms trade. Mad Hatters will be dressed in town crier costume.  WILPF UK women will wear purple headwear, green sashes and carry white paper flower wreaths to represent our feminist (suffragist) focus.

The walk will go through Stratford, Plaistow and Canning Town. On the way the walkers will hand out leaflets through Newham at shops, cafés and to passers-by, encouraging local people to join the protests at the Defence and Security International arms fair (DSEI) held at the ExCeLCentre at the Royal Victoria Dock.

On arrival at ExCel Centre we will go to the side of the dock opposite ExCeL to hold a ceremony during which former VFP members will cast the wreaths into the dock remembering particularly the victims of recent wars who have been killed by weapons supplied by the arms trade for which such arms fairs form the shop window.

As a feminist peace movement, WILPF UK works towards disarmament, anti-militarism, equality, gender and peace, climate justice and human rights.
